2011 MENS TEAM PROMOTION / RELEGATION PROCEDURE

As a result of various comments regarding promotion form B team to A team, we are introducing the following process so players can clearly understand how they can move between teams. It is worth noting that the A team has to be the strongest possible squad at all times (EPA rules) - this may result in players from the B team being promoted irrespective of whether they are in contention for B team player of the year.

  1. At the start of each season, the Team Manager, Assistant Team Manager & Team Captains will select their preferred players for the A team.
  2. No movement of players between A and B team will occur in the first three matches (subject to attendance).
  3. Prior to the start of the fourth match and each subsequent match, the Team Manager, Assistant Manager and Team Captains will review the A & B team players performances. Using 3 points per frame won for A team and 2 points per frame won for B team, players rankings will be drawn up. Only players who have played three matches in their respective team will be included in this process.
  4.
If the top two B team players have more points than the bottom two A team players then they will move into the A team. Where the points are tied there will be no movement.
  5. Where players are tied on points within each teams rankings, the Team Manager, Assistant Team Manager and Team Captains will review previous performances to rank players.

Example 1 -

Bottom A team player (player A)has won three frames in twelve = 9 points

Second bottom player in A team ( player B) has won four frames in twelve = 12 points

Top B team player (player C)has won 7 frames in twelve = 14 points

Second player in B team ( player D) has won 6 frames in twelve = 12 points.

In this case player C is promoted at the expense of player A and player B is remains in A team as he has same points as player D.

Example 2 -

Bottom A team player (player A)has won four frames in twelve = 12 points

Second bottom player in A team ( player B) has won five frames in twelve = 15 points

Top B team player (player C)has won 7 frames in twelve = 14 points

Second player in B team (player D) has won 6 frames in twelve = 12 points.

In this case player C is promoted at the expense of player A and player D is not promoted as he has less points than player B.
